This training programme will help participants to develop their ability to successfully design and facilitate a wide range of meetings. The programme includes the tools, techniques and interpersonal/group management skills needed for success.

The programme is highly experiential, with participants “road-testing” their skills within highly realistic simulated meetings.

Objectives:

By the end of this "Facilitation Skills" programme you will be able to:

• plan and structure a wide range of meetings using facilitation techniques from your facilitators “toolkit”
• feel at ease and confident as a facilitator
• create and manage interactive group work and feedback
• manage people and problems that arise in facilitated meetings  
• learn some “tricks of the trade” used by highly skilled professional facilitators
• evaluate sessions against pre-determined objectives

• Developing a facilitator’s intuition for what works...
• Designing in the required level of group participation
• Working with the facilitation “choreography”
• Selecting  using appropriate ice breakers
• Strategies for using group competition, consensus and conflict
• Using and reading others body language to support your facilitation
• Dealing with group processes and difficult situations / people
• Learning the tools and techniques of the facilitator’s toolkit
• Using electronic supports
• Virtual meetings facilitation (optional)
• Techniques for recording outcomes e.g., Minutes, action lists etc.
• Ending meetings and follow-ups
• Reviewing and evaluating meetings
